What do councils get up to November 2023?

    Support finding job seekers
LGPro will assist your council to place job advertisements on the Jobs Victoria online hub and promote these vacancies through state and local industry and community networks.

Through Local Pathways, councils also have the opportunity to build connections with new community networks and specialist mentors linked to LGPro, that have relationships with jobseekers interested in working for the local government sector.

    Workplace support for new recruits
Councils can be assured that all new recruits in the Local Pathways program will be supported before they start work and offered continued support in the workplace for at least the first month of employment.
    This includes:
      • Up to 2 days of work readiness and foundational skills training, including soft skills and role specific skills.
      • Sector specific training ‘Intro to Local Government’ delivered by LGPro
      • Access to funds for equipment and materials relevant to the role

How it works in five easy steps

    Step 1
A relevant council officer from your Local Government gets in touch with the Local Pathways team at LGPro to express interest.

    Step 2
Within 24 hours, a Local Pathways team member will review your employment vacancies website and advise which positions you have on offer that would fit/be eligible for this program.

    Step 3
If you are about to offer someone one an identified job opportunity, and who meets the program’s eligibility criteria, advise our team and we will work with you and your likely candidate to register with us for the program. This can take place in less than 24 hours.

    Step 4
The candidate will receive access to work readiness and foundational skills training.

    Step 5
If your new starter is given the opportunity to undertake a relevant Certificate 3 or 4, it will be subsidised up to $4,000 plus up to another $400 for the RTO’s administrative fee.
