Biodiversity Planning Network

About the Special Interest Group

This Special Interest Group is primarily for Local Government staff who implement biodiversity legislation and policies with the aim of assisting in the protection and enhancement of natural values within their municipality and the State. The Biodiversity Planning Network:

  • Discusses emerging issues with the aim of providing advice to policy makers and to advocate for the protection of biodiversity
  • Shares knowledge and experience to improve the implementation and outcomes of legislation and policy (e.g. Native Vegetation Framework, local policy)
  • Provides an ongoing mechanism and forum for communication, consultation and liaison with other government agencies and stakeholders on biodiversity issues
  • Provides opportunities for professional development, peer support and communication

Online Teams community

This Special Interest Group is supported by an online community. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our communities are only for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow colleagues questions and sharing resources. You can also see who else is involved and get in touch with them quickly.  Agendas, minutes, presentations and other resources will also be posted on the online community.
