About the workshop
Our Core Financial Skills workshop is designed to support people working in Local Government who are new, or who have been recently appointed to a role with budget responsibilities.
It is also beneficial for people who are working in the sector and who would like to improve their knowledge of Local Government financial planning and reporting.
The online workshop covers the following areas;
- Understanding the legislation and officer obligations in regards to key planning and reporting documents
- Learning major accounting concepts and financial terms
- Undertaking effective budgeting, monitoring, forecasting and reporting
Mark Davies is a Chartered Accountant with more than 30 years experience in both the private and public sectors. Mark held a number of senior roles in Local Government including Chief Executive Officer and has since worked with Local Government Victoria in the design, development and implementation of Local Government Performance Reporting Framework, key author of the financial provisions of the Local Government Act 2020, Commissioner on the Ararat Rural City commission of enquiry and Interim Administrator at Central Goldfields Shire.
