About the workshop
Our Core Financial Skills workshop is designed to support people working in Local Government who are new, or who have been recently appointed to a role with budget responsibilities.
It is also beneficial for people who are working in the sector and who would like to improve their knowledge of Local Government financial planning and reporting.
The online workshop covers the following areas;
- Understanding the legislation and officer obligations in regards to key planning and reporting documents
- Learning major accounting concepts and financial terms
- Undertaking effective budgeting, monitoring, forecasting and reporting
The workshop is delivered by Mark Davies, a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. Mark held a number of roles in Local Government and has also worked with Local Government Victoria in the design, development and implementation of Local Government Performance Reporting Framework, writing the financial provisions of the Local Government Bill 2018, Commissioner on the Ararat Rural City commission of enquiry and Interim Administrator at Central Goldfields Shire.
