About Us

LGPro is the member association and leading voice for people working in Local Government in Victoria.

LGPro was formed in 1996/1997 following a merger of the Victorian branches of the Institute of Municipal Management, the Institute of Municipal Engineering Australia and the Victorian Municipal Community Services Association.

What we do

We actively support our members by:

  • Developing and delivering high quality, sector specific professional development activities and services
  • Facilitating positive communication with other levels of government and key stakeholders through a credible and independent voice
  • Providing Special Interest Groups for people to network, share best practice and learn about new developments
  • Celebrating excellence in the sector through a range of award programs.

Proceeds from our activities go back into the sector to provide programs, events and services to benefit our members and all people working in Local Government.

Our affiliations

We are part of the Local Government Professionals Australia federation which has offices in NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC and WA., and a national office based in Canberra. Each state division operates as autonomous entities with their own constitution or Articles of Federation which defines their roles and responsibilities.
