Insights from 2023 Local Government's emerging leaders

 

A core component of the Emerging Leaders Program is the action-learning group project. Four groups of professionals each identified a key issue impacting the sector that they felt passionate about and sought to influence change. Below are the issues they challenged and the outcomes they sought.

Collaboration – Listening to Community Voices in Support of Aboriginal Self Determination  

Project group sought to investigate the issues identified as part of the well-intended increase in demand from local government for collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.

Navigating Disruption & Strengthening Local Democracies

In 2023 the local government sector experienced an unprecedented level of targeted and disrespectful disruption for which it was largely unprepared. This project team delved into what is needed to support the sector to manage the impact of disrespectful disruptors and facilitate connections with municipal communities.

Office Share
The purpose of the report is to outline a strategy from improving collaboration between Councils through the implementation of an office share program.
