Social Media Conference

About the Conference

The 2019 Social Media Conference will be held on Wednesday 8 May at CQ Functions, 113 Queen Street, Melbourne.  The theme is Experimenting, Exploring and Evolving and will focus how we can continue to harness the power of social media using new tools and better processes so to help us improve how we communicate and engage with our communities.

This event is popular with people working at all levels in communications to learn about the latest trends and how social media is working well in other Councils.

The program will include a keynote speaker, interactive sessions, lightning talks and fishbowl sessions focusing on topics of interest and problems that delegates would like to see solved.

Registrations will open in late March.

Calling for Expressions of Interest – Lightning Talks

Due to the popularity of lightning talks in previous years, we will be offering these again at this year’s Social Media Conference. Lightning talks are short, sharp presentations of ten minutes duration. We are seeking a total of four individual presentations about a social media initiative that Councils have implemented that have come about as a result of learnings gained from previous experiences.  Lightning talk presenters will also get the opportunity to participate in a ten minute question and answer session with the audience at the end of the presentations.

The talks are a great professional development opportunity so if you are looking to brush up on your public speaking skills or would like to share knowledge with the rest of the sector, you can apply by completing an expression of interest form below.
