LGPro Guide to Domestic Animal Management

To assist Councils in delivering quality animal management services, the following Guide to Domestic Animal Management has been developed by the LGPro Statutory Services Special Interest Group. The guide provides an extensive reference resource on how to manage, interpret and apply provisions of the Domestic (Feral & Nuisance) Animals Act 1994. This guide has been developed with and for Officers, in response to the acknowledged need for improvements to service delivery experienced across local governments in the law enforcement areas. These guidelines not only allow for consistent and appropriate implementation of legislative requirements; they provide for best practice within this field and improve quality standards in the analysis of risk exposures and the allocation of resources. Ultimately, the guidelines seek to improve the quality and consistency of service delivery across urban, interface and rural municipalities.

This guide has been developed with and for Officers to assist Councils in delivering quality animal management services. To access the Guidelines, Officers require their AMO website username and password. If you are unsure of your username and/or password, please contact Lily Petreska at the Bureau of Animal Welfare on 03 9217 4433 or email Lily.Petreska@dpi.vic.gov.au
