LGPro Corporate image. Victoria's peak body for Local Government Professionals.

The Events Network is a pre-existing group which was formed several years ago for those working within Local Government in the events field to come together to share information and to provide support. Over the last four years the network has grown with representatives from Melbourne, metropolitan and regional Councils across Victoria. Members represent the areas of art and culture, community development, governance and more, showing the diverse nature of events run in Local Government.

Training and education is a priority for this group which is actively creating training opportunities for the network and working with training and educational institutions to design courses for event managers. The SIG strives to establish standards and processes which will create consistency across Councils, including permits and standards adhered to for safe and successful management of events. The SIG also works within and across other SIG's to ensure integration of knowledge, support and advice.

The group aims to be a central force for liaison with government, business and regulatory services, to share information in all areas of event management and become a recognised body for event information dispersal.
