Welcome to the official website of LGPro, the peak body for Local Government professionals in Victoria. We develop and deliver high quality professional development activities and services, facilitate positive communication with the State and Federal Governments and the private sector, and represent the views of officers where this expert advice is required.

On our website you will find information about LGPro membership, programs, conferences, awards, activities and events. There is also a section dedicated to our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that offer a valuable forum for Local Government professionals in specific areas to network and share best practice.

LGPro has moved to new, larger offices at Docklands (opposite the South Wharf). Our new address is Level 3/58 Lorimer Street, Docklands and our new phone number is (03) 9268 6400 and Fax number is (03) 9646 0469. Our former phone and fax numbers will automatically divert to these new numbers until further notice.

Upcoming Events and Activities

Sally Isaac Award Memorial Scholarship Fund nominations open
Applications for the Sally Isaac Memorial Scholarship Fund Award are now open. This year the Award has been broadened with applications open to all women aged 35 years and under who have demonstrated achievements in improving community life. In the past the Award was only open to women working in Local Government. Councils are encouraged to distribute the nomination form to their community networks.

Register now for Rainbow Network event
The first Rainbow Network event for 2012 will be held on Thursday 24 May at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start at Fish Dish, 51 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne. Titled, “Expanding the Conversation”, the event will take the form a facilitated conversation on how Councils can better support their staff and be more inclusive, and how LGPro might play a role in this. The event is open to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex officers and their friends working in Local Government. For further information contact Tony Mathews at LGPro on (03) 9268 6400.

Exciting Director’s Forum program released
An exciting line up of speakers and topics will be presented in the first LGPro Director’s Forum being held on Thursday May 24 and Friday May 25 2012. This forum offers the perfect opportunity to visit regional Victoria as it is being hosted by the City of Greater Bendigo.
