Ignite

About the program

Ignite is a leadership program for supervisors, team leaders and coordinators in Local Government. The program will prompt learners to think beyond the immediate priorities and to explore long-term solutions to challenges and issues in the context of their workplace.

The focus of the program is to enable those who have limited experience in managing and leading people to develop the competencies required to be successful in their role.

Learning Objectives

Learners will develop their leadership and influence to enhance their effectiveness. They will investigate a range of concepts through discussion and debate with a diverse range of presenters including sector and non-sector leaders – to both challenge and inspire the learners thinking and approach. The focus will be on the following areas:

  • Leading and Supervising in Local Government
  • Manage Risks Associated with Complexity and Ambiguity
  • Lead and Develop High Performing Teams

Bayside City Council
Ignite graduate 2020

"LGPro Ignite in my opinion should be a must for all new Team Leaders or Coordinators within Local Councils.  I knew going into the program that it would assist me to develop further on the skills I already had as a Leader, but I can say I feel that not only has it assisted me, it has gone beyond my expectations of the course.  It has made me make regular self-assessments which have assisted, something I have never done or never made the time for previously.

Given the current climate with COVID-19 this has been a fantastic time to be able to come together as a class and have support and coaching sessions to assist us with being the best we can be for our Teams at the moment.  It has meant that we have had to have the course delivered online which has gone smoothly and handled very well and the presenters have been brilliant.  The course offers Guest Speakers who truly are inspiration yet very relatable and down to earth".
