As part of the learning objectives of the Emerging Leader Program, the participant group are required to determine a project deliverable based on project topics determined by the LGPro Board that would support the local government sector into the future. The group took the high-level topics and identified two projects: Flexible Work Framework and Diversity for Democracy.

Flexible Work Framework
2020 changed work forever, in 2021 we learnt new ways of doing things to adapt and continue to deliver much needed services for our community, and 2022 comes as an opportunity to either embrace this change or miss an opportunity of a lifetime.  Our Flexible Work Framework has been developed to maximise this opportunity and position the Local Government sector as leaders on how we can work in the digital era.

Diversity for Democracy
This project aims to break down the barriers to equitable and inclusive entry for new elected candidates to Local Government. Diversity for Democracy is subject that the project team feel passionate about, as local government professionals we have all witnessed the inequity that exists for new candidates considering to stand, or we have observed inequity that is already represented in the Councillor groups they work with. The project report explores what the problem is, and then the group have developed a pitch for a pilot program that will help resolve the lack of diversity elected in LGA’s for the future.
