Future Local Government - Providing support in a collaborative space – Workforce Planning and Gender Equality
In acknowledging that 79 councils across Victoria will be undertaking the requirements of the Local Government and Gender Equality Acts around Gender Equality and Workforce Planning and that all councils will have differing capabilities and be at different stages LGPRo aims to create a united effort; build a safe and collaborative space; encourage the sharing of resources, advice and experiences; reduce unnecessary duplication and ensure all councils have the opportunity to lead on gender equality and workforce planning and meet the obligations of the Act.
Workforce Planning:
People and Culture teams have a lot on their plates this year with the Gender Equity Act and the Workforce Planning requirements of the new LG Act needing to be completed before the end of this year.
LGPro has been preparing for this requirement for a number of years and has the Workforce Planning Handbook available (based on the Australian Standard) for all LGPro members to use to complete this requirement. But it is still a complex process.
This seminar aims to walk you through some of the things you will need to complete, giving you practical examples of how to achieve this goal. It also aims to introduce participants to other councils at the same stage of development as yourselves to ensure we don’t all ‘reinvent the wheel’! For a practical session on ‘how to do workforce planning’ to meet the requirements of the new LG Act don’t miss the opportunity to meet with one of the leading experts in the field as well as you peers.

Gender Equality:
The Victorian Gender Equality Act provides the foundations and opportunity to drive sustainable organisational gender equality change. You can tick and flick or you can start laying the foundations for change now.
Let’s reduce duplication and work together to explore, discuss and share the soft skill techniques, tips and tricks that can deliver hard equality outcomes for your organisation, communities and the LG sector. This is not a ‘what is the Gender Equality Act?’ session but an opportunity to explore next steps for councils.
